Puppy safety at home and outdoors

Puppies are usually very lively and active.
They need to be handled with great care, both at home and outdoors.

Try not to leave your puppy alone indoors for long periods of time.
Puppies that are used to their mother's constant presence suffer greatly from loneliness.
In addition, remove anything unnecessary from the room/house that could attract the puppy's attention and be damaged, as well as anything that could be dangerous for the puppy!

Shoes should be put away, leaving only toys intended for the puppy on the floor (not small ones, so that the puppy does not bite off a piece and swallow it).

Do not place your puppy on chairs, armchairs, sofas, beds, or leave it unattended.
Puppies have poor coordination and may fall from a great height and injure themselves, which can lead to serious lifelong complications.

Do not lift or pull a puppy by its paws. This can easily dislocate joints that are not yet strong or damage ligaments. Especially do not pull by the head.
Always pick up the puppy under its chest and hold it securely with both hands to prevent it from falling.
As strange as it may sound, protect your puppy from children!
Often, due to a lack of understanding, children's games can be very cruel and dangerous for puppies.

You should not play with a puppy using a rag: it will not understand the difference between a rag and a curtain or tablecloth and will tear both.
In addition, tug-of-war will develop a lifelong habit in your puppy that it is okay and necessary to fight with people/owners and use force to take away things that interest the dog.
If your puppy has a rope toy, use it as a fetch toy or play with it as you would with a kitten.
Do not play tug-of-war with a rope toy.

Puppies need to chew – it's what their instincts and growing teeth demand. So, you need to provide your little one with appropriate items: toys and treats.
Keep a close eye on electrical wires — they should never be left on the floor or hanging in a place accessible to your puppy.
Medicines and chemicals should also be kept out of reach.
Don't forget that many indoor plants are poisonous to dogs.

Like all children, puppies often get injured. This is due to their increased activity and their owners' lack of experience.
The most common injuries are broken bones and sprained ligaments.
Unfortunately, puppies often get hit by cars or bitten by other dogs.
A leash is one of the essential accessories for your dog.
That is why it is so important to teach them to be calm when on a leash.

Usually, leash training starts at an early age. Even if the puppy is still in quarantine, this can be done at home.
You should not walk without a leash in the city, even with an adult dog.
You can unclip the leash in the forest, in the park, on the river, and only if your dog already knows how to behave and obeys your commands the first time.
